About Us

Aroha Chocolate owners Wobblie & Jo

Who we are

Aroha Chocolate was founded by husband and wife team Wobblie (Mike Duke) & Jo Logan in 2014.

Coming from very different past employment roles to the food industry, Jo & Wobblie have become a perfect team utilising the strengths they have acquired to bring you not just fantastic tasting products but an entire experience from the moment you open the box. Late in 2013 after the couple had some life reflecting events they asked the question, what’s next?

The answer was to make Jo’s passion of chocolatiering a lifestyle, not just bringing joy to her in making these great creations but also the enjoyment of those that taste them.
During 2014 after completing local training Jo & Wobblie ventured to Canada to expand her knowledge by working alongside a local chocolatier, earning Jo the title of Master Chocolatier.

Now the team continue to develop new and exciting ideas for you to indulge in.

“Our aim is to provide the best artisan chocolates for you to enjoy”

What we do

We have always been in the mindset of Flavour First not just playing with great flavour combinations but also ensuring the flavours are distinctive and come through at different times during consumption to give you a full flavour experience that stays on the palate longer.

With Jo’s eye for detail & drive to only produce the best possible experience for you & your recipients, we start with the best ingredients we can source like the finest chocolate made by Callebaut in their Belgium factory or our fresh Raspberries sourced from local Nelson growers.  We then combine these flavours using different techniques to deliver unique and delicious confectioneries.

Our range is broad including Truffles, Squares, a Gourmet Rocky Road & delicious Chocolate Drinks. All hand crafted and delivered to you in custom designed, NZ produced packaging with a focus on the planet.

We service direct to customer online sales, corporate gifting, accommodation & venue events and much more.

Family Confectionery History in Nelson

Roots in Nelson Confectionery since 1880

The Duke family have a long history of business in Nelson including a Tailor, Watchmaker, local Tea rooms & even one of the first Confectioners in Nelson. Eliza Mylrea (Wobblie’s grand aunt, Eliza Mylrea)

Eliza’s story is one exhilarating tale form the loss of her children & husband to leaving the Isle of Man, training in the art of confectionery in Texas, surviving a shipping disaster and finally settling in Nelson with family. Then opening Nelson’s first confectionery store in 1880 on Bridge St then later moving to Hardy St.
